Jen Psaki Makes False Claim That Trump Told Americans To ‘Inject Bleach’
On Wednesday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki made the false claim that former President Donald Trump told people to “inject bleach” after being asked about why more Americans have died from coronavirus under President Joe Biden.
Psaki made her remarks during a White House press conference exchange with Fox News’ Peter Doocy.
Psaki: I think the fundamental question here is what are you doing to save lives and the former President was suggesting people inject bleach, he apparently didn’t share with people he was going to interact with that he tested positive.. pic.twitter.com/TD2M7D5U3G

Psaki: Trump ‘continued to provide a forum for misinformation’
Doocy quoted something Biden’s said during a 2020 presidential debate: “Anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as President of the United States of America,” Biden said at the time.
At that point, about 220,000 Americans had died. That number has grown larger under Biden and more have died under the current president.
Doocy asked, “Is that the standard?”
Psaki replied seemingly angry, claiming that Trump had been reckless after testing positive himself.
Psaki then claimed that Trump had suggested people “inject bleach” as a way to treat COVID-19.
But Trump never said this.
Psaki pressed on, “I think the fundamental question here is what are you doing to save lives and protect people?” Psaki said to Doocy, also claiming that Trump had “continued to provide a forum for misinformation” that led to increased vaccination hesitancy.
Doocy challenges Psaki on Biden's previous claim that "anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as President of the United States of America."
"Is that still the standard now that more Americans have died under President Biden than President Trump?" pic.twitter.com/ZzCxspdVKR

Psaki Spreading Dangerous Misinformation
Here’s what Trump actually said in April 2020 after being asked if he believed disinfectant should be “injected into a person.” Trump said no. “It wouldn’t be through injection. We’re talking about through almost a cleaning, sterilization of an area.”
Even notoriously left-wing fact-checkers say it’s false.
Politifact wrote, “He did not say Americans should ingest chemicals to prevent or treat the virus.”
Doocy also asked Psaki what happened to Biden’s promise to “shut down” COVID-19.
“We’re working on it,” she replied.
